Policies & Procedures

I. Organizational Policies

1. Mission Statement 

All programs and activities shall support the Camp B-U Foundation Inc. mission: to empower the next generation of professionals through our youth Cosmetology program. We encourage young individuals to be BOLD in their creativity, BRILLIANT in their skills, UNIQUE in their expression, and UNSTOPPABLE in their pursuit of success in the Beauty and Barber industry.

2.  Non-Discrimination Policy

Camp B-U Foundation Inc. does not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. All youth are welcome.

3.  Child Protection Safety

All staff, instructors, and volunteers working with minors must complete a background check prior to service. Mandated reporting laws will be followed. Two-Adult rule: At least two Adults must be present during all instructional sessions or activities.

4.  Confidentiality Policy

Student information, including contact details, academic progress, and behavioral notes, will be kept confidential and only shared with authorized personnel or guardians.


II. Program Policies

5. Attendance and Participation

Students must attend a minimum of 80% of the program to receive a certificate of completion. Tardiness and absences must be communicated by the parent or guardian. Make-up sessions may be provided when possible.

6. Code of Conduct (Youth Participants)

Students are expected to show respect to peers, instructors, and materials, use tools safely, avoid inappropriate language, bullying or disruptive behavior, and participate fully in all activities.

7.  Instructor & Volunteer Responsibilities

Provide age-appropriate, hands- on learning. Encourage creativity and respect. Document student progress. Attend required training/orientation sessions.

8.  Health & Safety

First aid kits are available on-site. COVID-19 or other health safety protocols will follow CDC and NYS guidelines. Emergency contact forms must be on file for every participant.

III. Operational Procedure

9.  Enrollment Procedure

Application with parent/guardian consent required. Intake form including medical and emergency contact information. Orientation attendance is mandatory before first class.

10.  Equipment and Supplies Use

All tools are property of Camp B-U unless otherwise specified. Students are responsible for proper use and maintenance of kits. Misuse or theft will result in replacement charges or dismissal.

11.  Field Trip Guidelines

Permission slips required for all off-site trips. Transportation and supervision will be provided by authorized staff. Dress code and behavior policies remain in effect during outings.

12. Media & Photo Release

Parents/Guardians must sign a media release form. Photos and videos may be used for program promotion and reporting.


 

 IV. Anti-Bullying Policy
 

Purpose: Camp B-U Foundation Inc. is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all youth. Bullying in any form will not be tolerated and will be addressed promptly and effectively to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of every participant.

 

Definition of Bullying: Bullying is any intentional act, whether physical, verbal, social, or cyber in nature, that causes harm, intimidation, humiliation, or distress to another person. This includes but is not limited to: Name-calling, teasing, spreading rumors, physical aggression or threats, social exclusion, manipulation, cyberbullying through text, social media, or online platforms.

 

Zero Tolerance: Camp B-U Foundation Inc. maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. All students, staff, and volunteers must treat others with kindness and respect.

 

Reporting Procedures: Any participant, volunteer, or Instructor who witnesses or experiences bullying, is encouraged to report it immediately to a Program Director or Assistant Program Director. Reports may be made verbally, or in writing, and will be kept confidential to the extent possible. Parents/guradians will be notified of all confirmed incidents.

 

Investigation Process: All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. The accused individual will be given an opportunity to respond. Appropriate disciplinary action will follow if bullying is confirmed.

 

Disciplinary Action: Consequences for bullying may include: 1. Verbal or written warning. 2. Conflict resolution or mediation. 3. Parent/Guardian Meeting 4. Suspension from program activities. 5. Permanent removal from the program.

 

Support for Students: Camp B-U Foundation will offer supportive services for both the targeted youth and the youth exhibiting bullying behaviors. This may include Mentorship or counseling referrals, restorative conversations, and rebuilding peer relationships.

 

Commitment to Prevention: Anti-bullying themes will be incorporated into mentorship and empowerment circles. Instructors will model inclusive, respectful behaviors at all times. Youth will be encouraged to be UPSTANDERS, NOT BYSTANDERS. 

 

V. Review and Amendments
 

These policies will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors. Revisions may be made based on program growth, community feedback or legal requirements.
