Camp B-U Foundation Inc. was founded in 2025 by Jade Wright and Kendra Brown, two Buffalo-based Beauty Professionals and Community Leaders who have transformed personal adversity in collective impact. Rooted in lived experience and deep community connection, their mission is to empower youth-especially those from underserved backgrounds-through the art and discipline of Cosmetology and Barbering education that builds skills and self-worth.

Jade Wright, a Licensed Cosmetology Educator, proud Mother, Grandmother, and Cancer Survivor, brings years of teaching and mentorship to the foundation. Her work in Vocational Institutions and community-based programs has equipped hundreds of students with technical skills and personal confidence. As a digital Influencer known as Crownmejade, she also uses social media to connect, inspire, and uplift young people through beauty education and life coaching.

Kendra Brown, a Licensed Cosmetologist, Entrepreneur, and single Mother of three, is the owner of Mz. Brown Braids and More. Her career began from necessity-learning to do hair as a child without access to professional care-and evolved into a passion for helping others. Her salon is known not only for its quality services, but for its atmosphere of healing, empowerment, and mentorship. Kendra brings firsthand understanding of the challenges facing marginalized youth and the power of beauty to build confidence and career pathways. 

Together, Jade and Kendra created Camp B-U Foundation Inc. to provide youth ages 7-17 with hands-on training in cosmetology and barbering, while nurturing creativity, leadership and self-expression. The name of the organization, Camp B-U, stands for what we believe every young person can be:

Bold, Brilliant, Unique and Unstoppable.

Camp B-U’s programming bridges technical education with social-emotional learning, career readiness, and mentorship-offering a culturally relevant, community-rooted approach to youth development. Through their work, Jade and Kendra are not only passing down professional skills, but also building a legacy of confidence, resilience, and opportunity for the next generation.
